Ginny Badgett

Virginia “Ginny” Badgett brings deep experience helping nonprofit leaders turn fundraising challenges into strategic growth and is passionate about advancing nonprofits’ missions by building resources and momentum. As a consultant with The Curtis Group, she partners with CEOs, board members and development teams to build sustainable fundraising capacity, plan and execute successful campaigns and navigate complex transitions. Known for her strategic and collaborative style, Ginny guides organizations through campaign planning studies, campaign strategy and management and prospect research to support donor cultivation, solicitation and stewardship.

Prior to joining The Curtis Group, Ginny built a decade-long career in museums, beginning at the Detroit Institute of Arts during the city’s financial crisis and “Grand Bargain” that ultimately saved the institution. More recently, she served as Assistant Curator at the Boston Athenaeum, where she secured major grants, supported donor engagement and led transformative curatorial initiatives. Ginny brings firsthand insight into how museums and other nonprofits meaningfully engage donors and build fundraising strategies that deepen impact.

Ginny currently serves on the Giving USA Editorial Review Board, which provides oversight to the editor and authors of the Giving USA: The Annual Report on Philanthropy. She is an active member of the AFP Hampton Roads Chapter and the Virginia Association of Museums, where she is a regular conference speaker. Ginny holds a Ph.D. in the History of Art and Architecture from the University of California, Santa Barbara; a M.A. in Museum Studies from the Cooperstown Graduate Program; and a B.A. in History from Centre College.
