Associate Consultant

Cultivating and maintaining positive relationships with clients are central to Emily’s work with The Curtis Group. She oversees clients’ campaigns, assessments, and studies, as well as ensures the implementation of client strategy and activities. She takes pride in knowing that her work helps nonprofit organizations reach their full potential and further their own mission.
Before joining The Curtis Group, Emily was the sole development staff at St. Luke’s Historic Church & Museum in Smithfield, VA. While there, she managed all aspects of the development department, including annual fundraising, grant management, and donor stewardship. She has fundraising experience in the higher education sector at Virginia Peninsula Community College in Hampton, Virginia, and in the arts and culture sector at The Hunter Museum of American Art in Chattanooga, Tennessee. She holds a master’s degree in arts administration from the University of Kentucky and a bachelor’s degree in political science with a concentration in nonprofit management from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. She enjoys being an active member in the development space and has volunteered in different capacities during her professional career. She was a member tHRive Young Professional group, serving on the Regional Engagement Committee, as well as serving on the board of the Little Theatre of Norfolk. She also spent time volunteering with her sorority, Gamma Phi Beta, by serving as the Philanthropy Advisor for the Epsilon Iota chapter in Newport News, VA.
During her personal time, Emily enjoys spending time with her husband, Cohin, their daughter, Juniper, and dog, Sebastian, by visiting museums, discovering new restaurants, and exploring everything DC has to offer!
