As members of the Giving Institute and leaders of Giving USA, we are proud of the reports they provide that keep us up to date on the landscape of charitable giving in this country. We wanted to share a few of the findings from their recently released report on Giving by Generations. But be sure to subscribe today for full access to this and all their reports, like Giving USA 2025 coming out in June.
· Millennials are continuing to emerge as a philanthropic force, giving larger annual donations than their elders in Generation X.
· All generations have increased their annual donations by over 12% between 2021 and 2024. Giving by Boomers increased by 27%, and give double the amount of the other generations.
· Over 40% of donors now say they have used their smartphone to make a charitable gift
· Surprisingly, 88 percent of donors indicated they have given a gift in response to a direct mail appeal, but they prefer to give online, not by mail
