Associate Consultant

Helping nonprofits fulfill their missions by building meaningful relationships with donors is at the heart of Cara Olsen’s work with The Curtis Group. As an associate consultant, she brings more than 25 years of nonprofit experience—blending strategic insight, a strong belief in the power of philanthropy and a deep understanding of development, donor communications, and stewardship.
In her role at The Curtis Group, Cara serves as a key liaison to nonprofits nationwide—supporting timelines, refining strategy, strengthening donor engagement and analyzing data and trends to increase fundraising results and long-term impact.
Prior to joining The Curtis Group, Cara served as donor relations manager at the Norfolk SPCA, where she led donor stewardship efforts, annual appeals, and database management. Her previous leadership roles include deputy director of the Sandler Center Foundation and director of development at Chesapeake Bay Academy. Cara earned her Bachelor of Arts in English from Old Dominion University.
A lifelong resident of Hampton Roads, Cara enjoys exploring the region’s beaches, live entertainment, and local cuisine. In her free time, she loves cooking, exercising, and spending time with her two- and four-legged family members.
