The Community Foundation of the Central Blue Ridge wanted to create a training series for nonprofit professionals and their board members. This progressive community foundation had a big-picture vision for helping nonprofits in the community build their fundraising capacity and brought us in to conduct a training series. Our topics included role of the board in fundraising and how to engage volunteers and staff in making a major gift ask. We included plenty of time for Q&A and specifics for application to attendees’ particular nonprofits. The foundation received really positive feedback from attendees, who expressed appreciation for receiving such practical guidance.
“Unlike other workshop leaders I have known, the staff from The Curtis Group led a well-paced and highly focused program for the nonprofit leaders and board members in our community. They made key action items easy to understand and reinforced them throughout their presentation. Our attendees were excited to leave the workshop with clear next steps to discuss with their colleagues. Their comments included feeling ‘empowered with the tools and verbiage needed to talk with my board about fundraising’ and being ‘ready to engage.’”
