The Curtis Group Adds Two Team Members to Growing Consulting Team

Aug. 4, 2025 — The Curtis Group, a national leader in nonprofit fundraising consulting, is pleased to announce that Cara Olsen and Anuja Patel have joined the firm as associate consultants. In these new roles, Olsen and Patel will help nonprofit clients across sectors and the country achieve their fundraising goals through planning studies, campaign management and strategic counsel.

Olsen brings more than 25 years of experience in nonprofit development and donor relations. She most recently served as donor relations manager at the Norfolk SPCA, where she oversaw fundraising campaigns, events and stewardship strategies. Her background also includes key roles at the Sandler Center Foundation and Chesapeake Bay Academy, where she advanced annual giving and community partnerships. Olsen holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Old Dominion University and is based in Virginia Beach, Virginia.

Patel brings more than seven years of international development experience with a strong focus on gender equity, education, and climate initiatives. Most recently, she served as a program officer at The Asia Foundation, where she led multi-country programs and donor engagement for the Women’s Empowerment and Gender Equality team. Her career includes policy research, thought leadership and cross-sector collaboration with philanthropic, public and private stakeholders across Asia and the Pacific. Patel holds a master’s degree in international development studies from George Washington University and a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Davidson College. She is based in Charlottesville, Virginia.
