Back in May we wrote a post on leadership being “The Key to Successful Fundraising.” Last month, a survey of nonprofit executive directors entitled, “Daring to Lead,” honed in on the importance of strong nonprofit boards in not only supporting and sustaining executive directors but creating sustainable organizations. Weak board performance was cited among respondents as a leading contributor of rocky executive transitions, financial instability, and executive burnout. One of the four calls to action as a result of the survey (p. 18) specifically addresses “finding new ways to improve the performance and enhance the composition of boards.” It’s definitely an interesting survey worth checking out.
