Here’s the sixth fundraising tip in our series of 10 Tips for 2010: Develop a detailed cultivation plan for each of your top donors.
No two donors are alike. They have different funding interests, different concerns, different schedules. But when they’re your top donors, someone connected with your organization has a relationship with them. And that’s the person who needs to help flesh out the cultivation plan. Would the donor appreciate a tour or is he way too busy? Should you invite him to your special event or meet him in his office? Does he care about a specific program you offer?
Moving your donors to the next level of giving takes thought and planning. But when it pays off, you’ll be glad you made the effort.
